I am the National Political Editor and Washington Correspondent for E.W. Scripps, which means you’ll see my reports in local newscasts around the country.

I also make regular appearances on the cable channel Newsy, which is part of the Scripps media family.

Our talented producers throughout the company likely know me as “the guy who emails a political newsletter every morning.”

Based in D.C., I cover the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court and upcoming elections.

Since joining Scripps, I’ve had a one-on-one conversation with President Trump in the White House, which was watched by millions worldwide on various platforms.

I’ve also helped launch a new fact check series “Truth Be Told” with political reporters in various swing state markets.

I am honored to have received multiple Emmy awards for my work in my career, ranging from in-depth investigations involving the energy industry to reports from Hiroshima, Japan and the development of the atomic bomb.

Other assignments over the years include the Navy Yard shooting, the Baltimore Riots, Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S., Standing Rock in North Dakota, the DMZ in Korea and the Holy Land in Jerusalem. I’ve also conducted news-making interviews with Vice President Joe Biden and Vice President Mike Pence earlier in my career.

Prior to this job, I held the political beat in Denver, Richmond, and Davenport, Iowa for various television stations.

I graduated with honors from the politics department at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and held internships on Capitol Hill, in the White House and in British Parliament. I began my journalism career with CNBC in 2009 and am a native of Youngstown, Ohio.

In my free time, I enjoy planning my next international trip while exploring D.C. with my fiancée, Kaitlyn and golden retriever, Tucker.
